Before leaving school, I knew I wanted to go straight into the working environment and earn a wage rather than going to university and studying towards a degree I wasn’t sure about. I discovered my apprenticeship with The HR Dept through a local training provider, Jace Training.
I started the Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration shortly after finishing my A levels, and since then have passed all of my exams and completed the course. My key learnings from the apprenticeship have been getting to know how HR professionals work day-to-day, enhancing my computer and software package skills and becoming more confident in my own abilities. I am also known as the “Office 365” expert at The HR Dept , and am able to provide valuable support to the rest of the team when needed.
What I have enjoyed most from this experience is working within a fun and hardworking team. One of the achievements I am most proud of was becoming the Apprentice of the month at Jace Training, and as a result being nominated for National Apprentice of the year.
Upon completion of my apprenticeship, I was delighted to be offered a full-time position at my organisation. I have taken on more responsibilities since then, and my day-to-day roles uinclude:
I have found the apprenticeship route to be a great alternative to university because it has given me a real-life experience in a working environment rather than theoretical learning. In my opinion, the hands on experience I have gained has been invaluable and may lead to further career prospects and the ability to earn a living.
